51 road accidents recorded in Karnali during Dashain, six dead

KARNALI, Oct 5:  In Karnali Province, a total of 51 road accidents occurred over the 12-day Dashain period. According to the Karnali Province Police Office, six people died in these accidents.



According to Senior Superintendent of Police Kedar Khanal, among the deceased are four men, one woman, and one child. A total of 132 people were injured in the accidents. Of them, 56 are seriously injured, while 76 have sustained minor injuries, he informed.

According to police, there were 19 road accidents in Surkhet. One man died there, while 12 men, three women, three boys, and one girl — altogether 19 people — were seriously injured.


In Salyan, six road accidents occurred. Three people died there, and eight were seriously injured. In Rukum West, 10 road accidents left 11 people seriously injured and 14 with minor injuries.


In Jajarkot, four road accidents occurred. One person died and 15 were injured. In Dailekh, four road accidents left one person dead and 26 injured. In Kalikot, three road accidents resulted in five injuries.


In Jumla, four road accidents occurred. Eight people were injured there, while in the mountainous district of Dolpa, one accident occurred, injuring one person. SSP Khanal stated that no accidents occurred in Humla and Mugu during this period.
