Best known for skillfully fusing the classical and pop genres, Shiva Pariyar made his commercial debut, as a singer, in 2005 with ‘Mokshya’. He is acclaimed for the chartbusters which comprise songs like ‘Pilayo Sathi Ley’, ‘Kya Dami Bho’, ‘Aasu ko Artha K Thaha’, ‘Allarey’, and many more. A recipient of Rashtriya Yuba Pratibha Samman (2003) and Narayan Gopal Yuwa Sangeet Puraskar (2013), he is currently prepping up for the release his new song ‘Sun ko Maya’ from his next album ‘Shivalaya’ this month.

In a conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, he revealed the five things that many may not know about him.

Loving father

At home, he doesn't realize time passing when he is with his 5-year-old daughter, Suhana. No matter how occupied he is with work, he ensures that he spends quality time with her.

“We have our father-daughter moments. I take her for shopping and at kids' play center,” said Pariyar.

Tabla player

His early inclination toward classical music led him to formally learn tabla from Manjushree Sangeet Bidhyalaya.

“I occasionally play tabla at events. Although I don't practice as much at present, I am looking forward to continuing it sooner,” he expressed.

Fitness conscious

Spending regular hours at the gym was a part of his daily schedule until he met with a bike accident recently.  However, he managed to stay fit and healthy while recovering. Though he relies on a balanced diet to remain sound, he says he'll soon be getting back to the gym.

Occasional reader

He reads books based on recommendations. However, he likes reading non-fictional works of prominent writers.

“I enjoyed reading the works of BP Koirala and Nayan Raj Pandey. I look forward to reading Kumar Nagakoti, and other additional works of Pandey,” he stated.

Keen dancer

Inspired by his friends from an early age, he says he's still interested in break dancing. Michael Jackson has been his greatest inspiration.

“I have watched all his videos. I am also planning to join hobby classes once I manage some spare time from my hectic schedule,” he added.
