ITAHARI, Sept 25: As many as 46 houses have been inundated in Itahari due to incessant rains for the last two days.
The settlements at Tanmuna and Rajgunj remained submerged and the lives in the areas were badly affected.
Continuous rains cause the water level in the Dhanushana River to rise, leading to inundation of 42 houses at Tanmuna VDC ward 2 and 3 while four houses at Rajgunj, Sinubari-4 were affected. Many villagers have been left in the lurch as their houses are no longer inhabitable, said Sajan Rishidev, a local.
The villagers had also suffered from flooding some two months ago after water from the river entered their settlements.
The damages from the floods are more severe this time than the last one, added Rishidev.
“Now, we don't have a place to stay.” Similarly, some industries of Sonapur area were also affected as floods entered the area.
