KATHMANDU, June 19: Police on Tuesday seized China-bound seven kilograms of hashish bound at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Officials suspect that the so-far unnoticed destination must have been attracting a considerable amount of contraband from Nepal.

“This is the first ever case of China-bound hashish we have cracked so far,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawaraj Silwal of Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit (NCDLEU). [break]

The contraband was found in a packet which officials took over from Express Mail Service´s (EMS) TIA office. An EMS staffer has been held for interrogation. Meanwhile, NDCLEU arrested a few others allegedly involved drug trafficking.

Of them, Chandra Bahadur Pode, 48, of Bhakatapur-11, is one of the most wanted drug dealer with significant business clout in the capital. He had been using women and teenagers to peddle drugs.
