44 youths rescued in Surkhet

SURKHET, June 9: Police have rescued some 44 adolescents boys and girls of Salyan from Chhinchu of Surkhet district on Saturday. The adolescents were tempted and brought to India for employment.



Among total rescued were 26 girls and 18 boys aged around 16-20 years. They are identified as residents of Kupindedaha, Nigalchula and Majhakanda VDCs of Salyan district, said police. [break]



The rescued youths are kept at the office of Women and Children in Birendranagar, Surkhet and would be handed over to their parents on Sunday, said Rama Bhandari, the District Child Protection Officer.



They were rescued on suspicion that the innocent children were being trafficked to India, said Inspector Dip Kumar Shah.



Likewise, the agents Suresh Kumar Roka Magar and Tanka Prasad Magar of Nigalchula-1 were arrested in this connection.



The Chief District Officer (CDO) Purushottam Kunwar said that it was illegal task to take the children to other countries as laborer and action would be taken against them.
