KATHMANDU, June 11: The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) on Tuesday published the results of this year´s School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams.
Under the regular category, a total of 1,67,935 students passed the exam, with pass percentage standing at 41.57, the OCE said in a press statement. Of the passouts, 96,454 are boys, while the remaining 71,481 are girls. [break]
A total of 16.924 students achieved distinction, while 76,165 passed in the first division; 69,830 in second division and the rest 5,016 in third division.
This year’s pass percentage is six percent less than that of last year, which stood at 47.16 per cent. In all, 4,03,936 students had appeared in the exam under regular category.
Likewise, under the exempted category, 8,318 students passed the exam with a pass percentage of 7.76. Combining both the categories, 1,76,253 of the total 5,11,165 students made it through this year´s exam.
This year’s SLC exams were held in March 13-24. Students failing in at most two subjects will be eligible for the chance exams, scheduled for August 4-11 later this year.
The results are put on the websites: www.moe.gov.np, www.doe.gov.np and slc.ntc.np. Similarly, the results can also be accessed via SMS on mobile phones by typing slc <space> the symbol number and sending it to 5225.
