Mountaineering expo to begin from March 23

KATHMANDU, March 19: Global Adventure & Mountaineering Conference and Expo (GAMCE) 2018, jointly organized by Nepal Tourism Board and House of Rajkarnicar, has been scheduled to be held at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu on March 23-25. 

Organizing a press meet on Sunday, the organizers said that the event is being organized in Nepal, drawing inspiration from the remarkable growth in adventure tourism in the world. 

The organizers have expected the event to introduce Nepal as the adventure hub where adventure buyers and sellers can transact adventure products and services not only from Nepal but from across the world. 

Speaking at the press meet, Kul Bahadur Gurung, general secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), said that mountain tourism of the country required more promotion in the international market. 

“This program could be the best way to promote adventure and mountain tourism of Nepal in the international market,” Gurung said. “This expo and conference can convey the message to the world that Nepal is a suitable destination for adventure lovers and mountaineers.” 

Speaking about the event, Birendra Raj Karnikar, managing director of House Rajkarnicar said that the adventure and mountaineering conference will be hosting events in three different topics of adventure sports, adventure tourism and environment. The conference will have 60 speakers, and expects to have more than 250 national and foreign participants. According to the organizers, the expo will cover exhibits and exhibitors from the adventure travel services as well as adventure gear and equipments. 

The organizers further said that the event will have 20 hosted adventure buyers, more than 30 institutional adventure buyers from across the world, 50 adventure commercial buyers and about another 50 more institutional buyers to visit the expo coming from several companies and institutions. Similarly, the event has expected to have around 3,000 public visitors.
