309 students barred from SLC exams in Jhapa

JHAPA, March 25: 309 students in Jhapa district have been barred from appearing in the upcoming School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations for failing to secure the mandatory 75 per cent of annual school attendance.

The number of students denied for this year's exams is, however much lesser than that of the last year. As per the data provided by the District Education Office, a total of 717 students were barred from appearing in the exams last year.According to Assistant District Education Officer Ganesh Adhikari, of the district, a total of 16,985 students from a total of 104 secondary schools are appearing in the SLC exams this year that is schedule to start from March 31.

Parents, teachers, and students alike, are worried that the catastrophic 7.8 earthquake of April 25 and its subsequent aftershocks would have severe impact on this year's exam results.
