KATHMANDU, July 21: As much as 26 metric tons of waste was managed in course of cleaning the rivers and the Ring Road area in the Kathmandu Valley today. 


The clean-up campaigners, however, said that the waste collected from the rivers and the Ring Road area has been deposited on the riverside as it could not be transported to the Sisdol dumping site.

Six metric tons waste was removed in course of the cleaning carried out on the bank of the Bagmati River in Guheshwari area under the 271st Bagmati Cleaning Campaign today. 

More than 800 people from 39 organizations including High Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee, Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, Gayatri Pariwar, Nyano Sparsha, Muktinath Development Bank, Reiyukai and Thakuri Samaj volunteered in the cleaning campaign. 


Former government secretary Kishor Thapa, Bagmati goodwill ambassador Manisha Koirala, president of the High Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee, Narendra Raj Basnet among others also participated in the cleaning today. RSS
