KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Acting on a tip off, police on Sunday arrested 23 years old Raj Kumar Shrestha of Bhadratar-2, Nuwakot with 2.6 million rupees in cash.

Police intercepted Shrestha for a regular security check when he was heading to Thamel on a motorbike. The police had arrested Shrestha after he failed to disclose the amount’s source. In a preliminary statement, Shrestha had said that he had carried the money to construct a view tower at New Bus Park.


According to Paudel, source must be opened for transactions exceeding 1 million rupees. Moreover, the Nepal Rastra Bank has made it mandatory to avoid cash transactions for huge amounts.
