KATHMANDU, Sept 9: A 23-member final Nepal U-16 football team squad has been announced for the upcoming 2020 AFC U-16 Championship to be held in Jordan.
For the qualifiers to start from September 14, head coach Sunil Shrestha named the 23 players for the tournament. Three players who took part in the last SAFF U-15 Championship are excluded from the list.

Goalkeeper Ishwor Gurung, midfielder Pradeep Lamsal and Ashim Rai were excluded, while Phatunghang Nembang, Crystal Shakya, and Deepesh Rai have gotten chances to play in the qualifiers.
Coach Shrestha said that the players were selected considering their performances in the SAFF Championship concluded in India and the training sessions.
Manoj Dahal, Jenish KC, and Nemwang are the goalkeepers, while Ajaya Chaudhary, Abhishek Waiba, Jan Limbu, Roshan Thapa, Pragyan Maharjan, Pramish Gurung, and Amir Hamid are the defenders in the team.
The midfield consists of Nitesh Shrestha, Shakya, Janmejay Dhami, Bipin Magar, Mohit Gurung, Nirajan Malla, Anil Chalaulagain, and Nirajan Khatri, while Shashank Bohora, Sugam Jigme, Krishna Adhikari, Krish Sapkota, and Deepesh Rai will be the striking players.
Nepal will start its qualifying campaign with a game against the host Jordan on September 14, while it takes on Kuwait two days later. It will play against Tajikistan on September 20, while it will vie against Sri Lanka two days after that.
