KHOTANG, Jun 7: Two people have been killed in a jeep accident in the district on Thursday .


The deceased have been identified as Singh Tamang, 40, and Kailimaya Tamang, 35, of Sunkoshi  rural municipality-5, Okhaldhunga.

The accident took place when the ill-fated jeep, Na 1 Ja 4950, heading to Solukhumbu ferrying passengers from Kathmandu met with an accident at Hilepani of Manebhanjyang rural municipality-6 this morning.


The jeep veered off and fell some 300 meters down the road soon after it crossed Bhandare rivulet situated just before the Harkapur police check post.


Passenger Lokendra Tamang, 22, and driver Lal Bahadur Tamang of Sunkoshi rural municipality, Mulkharka have sustained serious injuries in the accident, according to eyewitnesses.


The injured were found stuck in the cliff, said Diktel-Kathmandu jeep driver.


Brake failure is suspected behind the accident.
