17 rounded up for defecating in the open

JANAKPUR, March 30: Police have arrested 17 individuals on the charge of defecating in the open in Dhanusha district on Thursday morning.



 Twelve locals of Sinurjoda VDC and five others of Mujeliya were caught while they were relieving themselves near road and public places.

According to Sub Inspector Tika Baral, incharge of Mujeliya Ward Police Office, they released the arrested after they promised to build toilets in their houses within a week.


The government has been constructing toilets in every household to declare Nepal free defecation country by 2017.


Under this campaign the police are regularly monitoring possible areas people could relieve themselves.
