KATHMANDU, Dec 21: The 13th edition of the National Industrial Expo has opened at Bhrikutimandap in the Capital from today.
The six-day fair organized by the Footwear Manufacturers Association of Nepal will see display and sales of footwear manufactured by various 35 domestic footwear companies.
Footwear items ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 10,000 are kept for sale in a total of 120 stalls in the expo.

The expo, aimed at promoting domestic brands, also features raw materials for production of leather goods and suiting and shirting materials.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the expo, Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce Indra Prasad Upadhyay pledged for formulation of strategic plans for promotion of footwear and leather products as he shared that the government has incorporated footwear and leather products in the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy.
Similarly, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Pashupati Murarka pressed for organizing such events outside of the Kathmandu Valley.
Organizers are expecting the footfall of around 100,000 visitors who will be offered 15 to 25 per cent of discount in their purchase.
According to the Association's President Robin Kumar Shrestha, the demand for footwear in the country stands at 50 million pairs but only 60 per cent of the demand is supplied by the domestic manufactures. RSS
