116,000 foreign tourists visit Nepal in April marking record high

Nepal recorded its highest-ever foreign tourist arrivals for April, with 116,490 visitors entering the country in April 2025, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

KATHMANDU, May 3: Nepal recorded its highest-ever foreign tourist arrivals for April, with 116,490 visitors entering the country in April 2025, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).



The NTB stated that this figure marks a new all-time high for April in Nepal's tourism history.


India accounted for the largest number of visitors, sending 25,933 tourists. The US followed with 10,053 visitors, China with 9,037 and the UK with 6,838. While overall arrivals rose significantly, the NTB observed that the number of tourists from India and China showed minimal growth.

Compared to April 2019-the pre-COVID benchmark year when Nepal welcomed 109,399 foreign tourists-April 2025 saw a slight increase in tourist arrivals. In April 2024, Nepal received 111,376 foreign visitors, while 98,773 visited in April 2023.


"We have officially surpassed 106.5 percent of the pre-pandemic level, which reflects a strong recovery and growing global interest in Nepal," the NTB stated.


NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi described April's arrival numbers as encouraging. "This growth highlights Nepal's enduring appeal and vibrant tourism culture," he said.


From January to April 2025, a total of 415,048 foreign tourists visited Nepal. Monthly arrivals included 79,991 in January, 96,880 in February, and 121,800 in March.
