11 CA members to visit India

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: India has extended invitation to 11 lawmakers from Nepal representing seven different political parties for participation in a Young Parliamentarians Exchange Program to be held from November 21-27.



According to a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Nepal, lawmakers from UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, MJF-Loktantrik, MJF-Nepal, CPN (United) and RPP-Nepal will attend the program.[break]



The visit follows Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal´s visit to India in August 2009 when it was agreed between the governments of India and Nepal that there should be regular exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries.



The Nepali delegation is expected to visit speaker of the Lok Sabha, finance minister, opposition leader, deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, and foreign secretary of India. They are also scheduled to interact with senior officials of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and attend a special session organized by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Research.



The Nepali delegation comprises lawmakers Hari Ram Sripaili and Puran Rana Tharu from the UCPN (Maoist), Gagan Thapa, Sita Gurung, Mahendra Yadav and Nabindra Raj Joshi from Nepali Congress, Naradmuni Rana (Tharu) of the CPN-UML, Sunil Babu Panta from the CPN-United, Kunti Shahi from RPP-Nepal, Pramod Gupta from MJF-Loktantrik and Raj Kishore Yadav from MJF-Nepal.
