Attended by over 40 young participants from colleges and various organizations, majority of them from the Madhesi community, the discussion revolved around Tikapur riot and the federalism agendas. Brabim Kumar KC, President of AYON, coordinated the dialogue.Dr Bhasker Gautam said, "No matter how many provinces we divide our country in, we won't solve our problems if we do not ponder upon the principle behind it. Right now, many of our leaders are busy defending the quantity regarding federalism, but we need to work on understanding and defending the principle behind the decision."
Similarly, Tula N Shah shared that the frustration on Madeshi side arose from their dissatisfaction with the Interim Constitution regarding some of its aspects. "The Madeshis weren't happy with certain attributes of the interim constitution and they have been protesting against it. However, no matter how aggressive the voice is, it should be strategic. I feel the Madeshis should pay due attention to that aspect too."
Communication and document officer at AYON, Anish Raj Shrestha shared, "The main objective behind organizing this dialogue was to create a platform where general people can interact with relevant stakeholders and experts. We weren't intending on influencing or showing the so called "right direction." We simply wanted youth to understand the burning issues of our country, maintaining perfect equanimity. And I believe we did a good job for our panelists shared some really interesting angles on the agenda and the participating young people too seemed to be paying rapt attention."
