The youth has been identified as 21-year-old Puran Katuwal of Triyuga Municipality-7 Modigada.
Katuwal who was returning home on a motorcycle, Sa 6 Pa 1977, after celebrating a valentine day in Gaighat was injured after being struck against a pole near buspark on Sunday night, according to a local.
Seriously injured Katuwal breathed his last while being whisked to District Hospital, Udayapur this morning, said Udayapur District Police Chief SP Narbahadur KC.
Katuwal sustained a serious head injury after the motorcycle went out of control and hit a pole due to over-speed.
Katuwal's body has been kept in the district hospital for postmortem.
