“While the review of US foreign aid is ongoing, the US government has allowed some activities under the MCC Nepal Compact to proceed. This permission does not signal any specific outcome from the review process," the statement read.
MCA-Nepal has received approval to advance significant procurement tasks and necessary office operations. "MCA-Nepal is managing the resumption of these tasks and remains committed to transparency," NCA-Nepal stated.
MCA-Nepal also mentioned that it is closely coordinating with the Government of Nepal and the Millennium Challenge Corporation to ensure the completion of necessary tasks while awaiting updated information regarding the US government's foreign aid review.
In February, the US government informed the Government of Nepal that it had temporarily suspended payments under the MCC grant for 90 days due to a review.
