The meeting also endorsed the party´s earlier controversial decision to dissolve Kathmandu District Organization Committee. The decision is likely to further deepen rift in the party between the factions led by party chair Jhala Nath Khanal and senior leader KP Oli.
"The meeting decided that no leader can publicly speak against party decisions and spew venom at each other," a press release issued by the party said.
During the meeting, several leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the verbal war between Khanal and Oli over dissolution of the Kathmandu committee. Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also attended the meeting and said that the party should sternly follow the code of conduct.
Meanwhile, sources said Oli wrote a note of dissent against the endorsement to dissolution of the committee as the decision was taken in the absence of standing committee members close to him. Three standing committee members -- vice chairperson Bidya Bhandari, and secretaries Shankar Pokharel and Bishnu Poudel -- were not present in the meeting.
While Bhandari and Pokharel are out of the country, Poudel walked out of the meeting. PM Nepal had also left the meeting before the decision was taken.
