NAWALPARASI, Dec 3: Sanjay Yadav, 18, of Sanai VDC in Nawalparasi, who was set on fire Wednesday by the agitating cadres of the UDMF after accusing him of smuggling fuel from India, is currently undergoing treatment at Prithivi Chandra Hospital based in Parasi.

"The protestors tried to burn me alive all of a sudden for no reason," Yadav said. "I jumped into a nearby stream to save my life immediately after they doused me with petrol and set me afire."

According to doctors, Yadav has suffered burn injuries in his body and legs.

Yadav, who hails from Pharsatikat of Rupandehi district, had been living at his aunt's residence in Nawalparasi for long.

The UDMF cadres had seized fuel brought by some individuals from across the border and a quarrel had ensued. When Yadav argued with the cadres saying, "If you are to stop, you should stop all fuel movement and you should not allow some through and not others", the cadres sprinkled petrol on him and set him on fire. Yadav said, the fuel that the UDMF cadres had seized did not belong to him.

Meanwhile, Shiv Kumar Yadav, Rajesh Saithar and Seru Yadav from Sanai VDC were arrested for their involvement in the attack, DSP Arjun Ranabhat told Republica.

"We're still looking for five others involved in the incident," he said. They will be charged with attempted murder," according SP Ranabhat.
