Two Maoist students held

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Two Maoist-affiliated student leaders have been arrested on Monday in Lalitpur for allegedly vandalizing a private college. Those arrested are Bikram Dhital and Surendra Sharma.



Police said the attackers are members of the Lalitpur District Committee of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary, the student wing of UCPN (Maoist).



This is the third attack in a row over a couple of weeks by the Maoist students on private educational institutions in the district.



Some 19 Maoist students had barged into the premises of Blue Bird College at Kumaripati on Monday morning and vandalized a car (Ba.4.Cha 2689) and the college. Police said property worth Rs 35,000 was damaged in the incident.



The attackers who came on motorcycles fled the scene after the attack. Dhital and Sharma were arrested while they were undergoing treatment at the Laligurans Hospital for the injuries they had sustained during the attack.
