Two arrested for defrauding Rs 4.8 million with fake foreign employment promises

Among the arrested persons, Rai took Rs 4.2 million from 7 victims by promising to send them to the US, and Sarita took Rs 630,000 from a victim by promising to send them to Romania.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Police have arrested two people on charges of defrauding eight individuals by promising lucrative salaries for foreign employment and promising to send them to the US and Romania. 


The arrested persons have been identified as Chandrakala Radakhu Rai, 55, of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-19, and Sarita Kumari Yadav, 54, of Sonam Rural Municipality-2.

Among the arrested persons, Rai took Rs 4.2 million from 7 victims by promising to send them to the US, and Sarita took Rs 630,000 from a victim by promising to send them to Romania. 


A team of police officers deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office (KVCIO), Teku, arrested Chandrakala from Bauddha on Thursday and Yadav from Mahalaxmi Municipality-5 on Friday.


Chandrakala has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and action, while Sarita has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal.
