KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri handed the insignias of major general to newly promoted army officers Jagdish Chandra Pokharel and Shamsher Thakurathi amidst a function at the Army Headquarters, Bhadrakali on Monday. A cabinet meeting on January 5 had decided to promote Brigadier General Pokharel to major general while a cabinet meeting on January 13 took the decision to promote Brigadier Thakurathi. The council of ministers during the cabinet meeting had decided to appoint Maj Gen Pokharel as the chief of the Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri while Thakurathi has been appointed as the Director General of the army's directorate that looks after news-related issues.
