BARDIYA, Feb 1: Two people were killed when a tipper truck crushed them while they were warming themselves at a bonfire in a field. The incident took place when a tipper was trampled uncontrollably in the yard of Satpatiya of Badaiyatal Rural Municipality-3 at around 8PM on Monday.
According to the Superintendent of Police, Bardiya, Ishwor Karki, Som Bahadur Bik, 45, of Badaiyatal Rural Municipality-3 died on the spot while Ramu Tharu, 45, died while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College. Three others were injured in the incident.
Tipper-trucks threaten commuters and pedestrians
The injured are identified as Pramila Chaudhary, 35, of Badaiyatal Rural Municipality-3, Chamelia Tharu, 40, and Laxman Sunar, 19, of Birendranagar Municipality-11, Surkhet. All the injured are undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College.
The tipper truck (Ve 1 Ka 1495) was heading toward Jamuni from Surkhet when it hit the people who were warming themselves at the fire in the yard. Driver Durga BK, 33, of Surkhet Birendranagar Municipality-11 has been arrested by the police.
