Similarly, two persons of Anptar and Khanbu, who had gone missing five days ago, have been found dead Sunday night. The body of Gam Bahadur Magar, 50, of Anptar-7 was recovered from the bank of Rankuli river while that of Dhan Bahadur Magar, 22, of Khanbu-3 was found near Andheri river.

Meanwhile, around 300,000 people of Rajapur area are under the threat of swollen Karnali river, reports our Bardiya correspondent Nirmal Ghimire.

“The river is just five meters away from the Rajapur canal,” Chait Tharu, a local from Gola VDC, said. The river is approaching the canal at Nauranga of Patabhar VDC as the destroyed embankment has not yet been repaired.

The locals of 11 VDCs in the region have been living in constant fear of the floods. “If the embankment is not repaired immediately, water from the river will enter the canal,” Chhote Lal Tharu of Patabhar.

Locals said the concerned authorities have turned a blind eye to the looming threat of floods.
