Three herders surrounded by tigers rescued

NEPALGUNJ, Oct 1: As many as three locals of Sonari Rural Municipality-1, who were forced to seek refuge on a tree after being surrounded by three Royal Bengal tigers, have been rescued.

NEPALGUNJ, Oct 1: As many as three locals of Sonari Rural Municipality-1, who were forced to seek refuge on a tree after being surrounded by three Royal Bengal tigers, have been rescued. Setu Oli, 56, Hira Khadka, 25 and Kalika Khadka, 24 were rescued with the help of an elephant. 


The locals had gone to the forest to herd their cattles, about a kilometer away from the East-West Highway where they were surrounded by three tigers. They were rescued on Saturday afternoon.

According to Top Bahadur Bhandari, a local, they were rescued with the help of a Mahout and his elephant who were grazing nearby. “Two of the rescued herders have already reached their homes while one is on his way,” he said. 


“A team of army personnel were sent to the site after the workers who were inside the forest did not pick up their phones,” said Uttam Chaudhary, chief of Banke National Park Eastern Sector.
