Friends, please allow us to share our feelings in a few words.
We are relatives. We are studying in Golden Peak High School, and staying in the school’s hostel. We came to Kathmandu hoping to get quality education, and we’re happy to have gotten that in our school. Our village is Teenghare, which is four kilometers far from Fikkal, a popular town in our district. All of our family members live there, but because of our studies, we haven’t been there for a year now. But we regularly talk with our parents over the phone.
Just like in the past, it will be wonderful to see our parents and friends. Our eyes are so keen to see the periphery of our homes again. Ilam is really clean, green and beautiful! We can already imagine the different kinds of flowers that must be blossoming all around the yard. The beautiful hills of tea garden, which gives heavenly pleasure, will welcome us, and we can already visualize fluffy white clouds dancing in the background of the blue sky far away in the horizon.
Dashain is never complete without enjoying the little flights in the ping (swing) with our friends. The villagers always set up a swing in the peak of a nearby green hill. When we swing higher and higher, we feel like we can touch the blue sky.
On the other hand, our relatives and villagers ask us about our life and education in Kathmandu and listen to us with amused faces. Some of them remark, “You’ve become taller”, “You’ve put on weight”, “You’ve become smarter than ever”, and these make us giggle.
Similarly, our parents offer us the best delicacies, as if we’re some distinguished guests. We really can’t express how awesome everything is going to be once we reach home. Probably we’ll have already reached our homes when this article gets published. We can’t wait to read this in front of our friends and family.
We’re still trying to shift our focus to our exams at the moment, but the focus constantly swings between Ilam and Kathmandu. These few days have been like a few years for us. But we’re conscious about the importance of studying as well.
We understand that we need to make a strong foundation for our future. And that can be done only if we study well now. We’ll stay in our hometown for a month celebrating the festival, and as soon as we’re back to Kathmandu, we’ll start studying wholeheartedly again.
After all, we’ve taken the vow of excelling in the SLC exams.
Happy Dashain friends!
