Tension in Taulihawa, two injured

 KAPILVASTU, Aug 20: Situation in Taulihawa, the district headquarters of Kapilvastu, remained tense throughout Wednesday following a clash between police personnel and cadres of United Loktantrik Madhesh Morcha.

More than 200 agitators pelted stones at police from continuously from 2 in the afternoon till 6 in the evening. Police reportedly fired dozens of tear gas canisters and a few stun grenades to bring the situation under control.

According to DSP Bikram Gurung, police fired 110 rounds of tear gas shells, 25 rubber bullets, and three stun grenades at the protesters. Two protestors were injured in the police action.

The injured - Rajendra Mahara of Kapilvastu-5 sustained injury to his knee, while the other, Punyabasi Kahar of Kapilvastu-12, was injured in the arm. Both of them were treated at Taulihawa Hospital.

Around a dozen cadres of Morcha, 10 Nepal Police personnel and 5 Armed Police Force personnel sustained minor injuries, according to Inspector Bikram Gurung.
