BHATAPUR, Sept. 16: Following two decades of an operation of the National Tuberculosis Control Program in the country, the government is planning to prepare a baseline of lungs´ tuberculosis patients.

National TB Center is mulling to begin the survey from June 2013 and is expected to receive statistics in this connection by 2015. [break]

The survey would be conducted with the financial support of Global Fund and from the technical support of Research Institute of Japan--an anti-TB Association of the Japan Government.

Specialists say that a lung´s TB patient transfers the disease to 10-15 others if s/he stays without treatment.

Director at National TB Center Dr Rajendra Prasad Panta said that all the works including training and other preparation in relation to survey would start from this month.

A team of specialists led by Dr Noriyo Yamada, Chief of International Coordination Department of Research Institute of Japan, has already started its tasks visiting Nepal.

It is estimated that some 20,000 people in Nepal have so far suffered from the communicable tuberculosis of lungs.
