The 27-party meeting failed to decide whether the taskforce´s term should be extended or not mainly due to opposition of the UCPN (Maoist).[break]
While leaders from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and some other parties are for extending the taskforce´s term, Maoist leaders have said the remaining contentious issues need to be discussed and decided at the Constitutional Committee (CC) of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
"We couldn´t take any decision at today´s meeting as Maoist leaders are not willing to renew its term. They are for forwarding the task to the CA bodies instead," UML chief whip Bhim Acharya told reporters.
NC Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel said his party is for extending the term.
Leaders failed to take any decision as both UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal remained absent at the meeting. Leaders from the 27 parties had held two rounds of meetings before.
The taskforce had earlier settled 127 of the 210 disputes in the contents of the new constitution.
The leaders have agreed to hold next round of meeting on December 20 to discuss the matter.
