In the women´s title clash, Sara Devi edged past her own younger sister Nangsal Devi of APF in 2-1. Saradevi took the first set 21-12 but lost the second 16-21. But the elder sister took the decisive set 21-11. [break]
"I had expected straight set win," said Sara, 26. "But the match was more difficult than expected. Sara also commented that she was pressure free playing with her younger sister. "All opponents are similar but I was bit pressure free playing with Nangsal," said the captain at Nepal Army.
As the champion, Sara bagged a purse of Rs 29,000 and her sister had to be satisfied with Rs 22,000 along with trophies and certificates. Sabina Panthi of APF and Punam Gurung of Kaski finished joint third.
In the final of men´s singles, Ratnajeet secured first position after his opponent Dipesh Dhami retired hurt after injuring his knee in the middle of second set. Ratnajeet had won the first set 21-15 and was leading the second 7-0 when Dhami quit the match.
Ratnajeet bagged a purse of Rs 35,500 and Dhami received Rs 28,500 as the winner and runner up respectively. Nepal No 1 Bikash Shrestha and Sahadev Khadka of Kailali secured third positions.
Ganesh Rayamajhi of Nepal Police School took home the boy´s singles title defeating Nabin Shrestha of Bhojpur 21-16, 21-15. Riyaj Ansari of Banke and Bishal Moktan of Bhojpur finished joint third.
Jesika Gurung of Jhapa defeated Sunaina Mukhiya of same district 21-14, 21-15 to take home school girl´s singles title. Hemkhyama Rai of Bhojpur and Tila Neupane of Banke finished third. The players finishing in top three positions in both boy´s and girl´s section received Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively.
Veteran´s doubles title of above 45 years age category went to Narayan Man Shakya and Hari Prasad Shrestha´s pair of APF. Similarly, pair of Jayaram Hamal (Kaski) and Suresh Chandra Shrestha (Kathmandu) took home veteran´s doubles above 55 year age category.
