Swiss companies donate trekking shoes

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Three Swiss companies -- Globotrek, Lowa and Transa -- on Sunday jointly handed over used trekking and hiking shoes to Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) Nepal -- a non governmental organization. According to a press statement issued on Sunday, the companies provided 1,725 pairs of shoes to KEEP. The organization provides suitable footwear and equipment to porters and mountain guides for their challenging work in the Himalayas. The uses trekking shoes are in perfect condition, Andre Luthi, initiator of the project, said in the statement. [break]
