Storms likely in Lumbini’s Terai region

Westerly and local winds are currently influencing Nepal's weather, while moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal is also impacting conditions across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).

KATHMANDU, April 30: Westerly and local winds are currently influencing Nepal's weather, while moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal is also impacting conditions across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).


This afternoon, hilly regions are expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. Some areas in the hills may receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Light rainfall and snowfall may occur in parts of the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. The DHM has also forecast possible storms in parts of the Terai region in Lumbini Province.

Tonight, cloudy conditions will continue in the hilly regions, while the weather in the rest of the country is likely to remain mostly clear. A few places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may see light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Isolated areas in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki may also receive light rain and snowfall.
