The event lasted for two hours, during which children were assembled and given clothes and stationary equipment.[break]
“We collected clothes from individual companies and other sources,” said Smriti Pokharel, executive director of the HCN group. “I feel that every child should be provided a stable place to study,” she added.

The HCN group had previously worked in places such as Palpa and Bhojpur, where they helped address concerns regarding women’s reproductive health and elementary education for children in poor conditions. They also helped to build health camps in both Bhojpur and Palpa and a library in Palpa.
“We wanted to do something in the Kathmandu and we saw this place and decided to help,” said Pokharel. The group is also attempting to raise more funds to build a room in the slum area specifically for children to study and complete their work in.
“Five kids have to share one notebook and many kids share school uniforms,” said Pokarel, adding, “Hopefully this event will bring a smile to the faces of those who need it.”
