Stage set for int'l wrestling

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: The final preparation for the First International Men and women´s Wrestling Show at Kathmandu and Pokhara on Saturday and March 4 respectively has been completed, informed Nepal Players and Coaches Association (NPCA) on Thursday.



NPCA, who are hosting the show in association with Golden Sine Enterprises Pvt Ltd, said at a press conference that the stages for the shows are all set.[break]



The organizers also informed that some of the wrestlers have pulled out of the show due to some technical reasons. Wrestlers from USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia will participate in the event along with six Nepali wrestlers, including the Himalayan Tiger.



The organizers hope to attract over 15,000 audiences at each show. 



Prime face National in the final



Prime College and National Campus reached the final of the National Collegiate Athletic League (NCAL) with their victories over Golden Gate College and Trinity College respectively on Thursday.



National struggled to register a 58-54 away win at Golden Gate, who were the winners of group A during the league round. Golden Gate, having the home court advantage, took the first half with 24-21 points. Later, National bounced back and took the second half 37-30 for the win. Bishal Gurung of National was the highest scorer with 25 points while Navaraj Dahal of Golden Gate was adjudged the man-of-the-match.



In another semifinal played at Prime´s home court, the hosts thrashed Trinity 69-33. Prime took both halves with 39-18 and 30-15. Siddhartha Maharjan scored 21 points for the winning team while Ayush Singh was named the man-of-the-match.



The man-of-the-match winners were awarded with Rs 1, 000 each. The finals of the league will be played at a neutral venue, Linclon School. The winner of the league will receive Rs 50, 000 cash while the best coach will receive Rs 20, 000. Most Valuable player of the league will receive basketball equipment worth Rs 10, 000.



RIBS victorious



RIBS registered a comfortable 6-2 victory over Shining Star in the First Gyanodaya Invitational Junior Boys Football Tournament on Thursday.



In another match, host Gyanodaya and GEMS played a 1-1 draw. Sabhuvav Lal Shrestha gave an early lead to GEMS in the 20th minute while Min Bahadhur Shrestha equalized in the 44th.
