Soldiers arrested for murdering cops

JUMLA, July 23: Police have held four persons, all of them being Nepali Army soldiers, in connection with the killings of two policemen in Jufal village of Dolpa district two weeks ago.



Those arrested are Prem Singh Bhandari, Krishna Moktan, Kamal Yonjan and Buddha Budha, according to the District Police Office, Dolpa. The army men had been posted at different places in the district.[break]



Early this month, police constables Kamal Bhandari Arje-1 of Gulmi and Jhaman Reule Marke-1 of Salyan, who were deployed at the Jufal airport, were beaten to death following a dispute.



Police had nabbed Bhim Bahadur Budha of a Dunai-2, Raju Thapa and Apar Gurung of Dunai-1 the same night.



The information furnished by them during the interrogation led to the arrest of four NA men, informed Tek Bahadur KC, the Chief District Officer of Dolpa.



Of the four, Budha, in his statement, has already confessed to his role in the killings. Police have been recording statements from the other three.
