Nepal Telecommunications Regulations requires operator to use microwave frequency in the assigned bandwidth which the operator was not following.
Microwaves are widely used for point-to-point communications as their small wavelength allows antennas to direct them in narrows beams allowing the microwave equipment to use the same frequencies without interfering with each other.[break]
NTA last month has issued a letter against the operator asking it pay the penalty of Rs 5,000 and to use the microwave frequency within the bandwidth as assigned by the regulator. The regulator has also asked the operator to immediately stop the use of microwave on unauthorized bandwidth. According to the senior official of NTA, the operator recently paid the penatly and was also operating the service within the permitted bandwidth.
NTA has assigned 2.4 Mhz frequency to Smart Cell to provide service in 398 unserved VDCs in four development region except Eastern Development region.
