Shakti Samuha wins 'Ramon Magsaysay Award'

KATHMANDU, July 24: Nepal’s Shakti Samuha has won Asia’s premier prize the ‘Ramon Magsaysay Award-2013’ among 5 others on Wednesday.



The Shakti Samuha is the first organization from Nepal to win the Award. Four Nepalese had been awarded by this prize in the past. Those individuals were Mahesh Chandra Regmi, Bharat Dutta Koirala, Sanduk Ruit and Mahabir Pun. [break]



Issuing a press release on Wednesday, Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) announced three individuals and two organizations from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal and the Philippines would receive the Award this year.



Along with the Shakti Samuha, Ernesto Domingo (the Philippines), Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (Indonesia), Lahpai Seng Raw (Myanmar) and Habiba Sarabi (Afghanistan) are the awardees.
