Seven foreign nationals detained over ‘suspicious activities’ in Nepal

According to the  DoI, a French woman was taken into custody from Lainchaur, Kathmandu, on Thursday. With her arrest, the number of foreigners currently under immigration control has reached seven.

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has detained seven foreign nationals on suspicion of engaging in suspicious activities while residing in Nepal.



According to the  DoI, a French woman was taken into custody from Lainchaur, Kathmandu, on Thursday. With her arrest, the number of foreigners currently under immigration control has reached seven. Those in DOI control include two Moroccan, three Chinese and one Bangladeshi nationals.

The French woman has reportedly visited Nepal 15 times over the past 11 years on various types of visas, including student, tourist and work permits. Investigators have found that she had established a bakery named Tera Sampa in Lainchaur. “She was found to be running a bakery business. All individuals are being investigated and will be deported,” the DoI said.
