Securing single party majority difficult: NC President Deuba

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said it would be difficult for a single political party to secure majority of votes in the present electoral system of inclusion and proportional representation.

MALEKHU, July 25: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said it would be difficult for a single political party to secure majority of votes in the present electoral system of inclusion and proportional representation. 



At a condolence gathering organised on the 13th day of the passing away of former President of NC in Dhading, Bharat Prasad Upreti, at Dhunibesi municipality-7 on Thursday, President Deuba expressed it was necessary to end groupism in the party to create environment that helps gain majority in the election.

Similarly, NC Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung pointed out the need of ending a tendency of working against party candidates and leaders if anyone does not get ticket in the election. The party would be weakened if party workers move with a sense of revenge. So, healthy competition is essential, he reiterated. 


Likewise, NC central committee members--Gopal Man Shrestha, Sashank Koirala, NC Dhading president and Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, among others, lauded the contribution of the late leader Upreti at the program held at the party’s building. 


Born in 195 BS A.D Naubise of Dhading, Upreti died during treatment at the Civil Service Hospital in Kathmandu on July 12, at the age of 97.
