Besides ordering the government to furnish written clarification over the decision to sack Sthapit, the court has summoned the defendants for discussion on February 4. The court has also ordered the government not to appoint anyone to the post till that date.

A cabinet meeting on Thursday had sacked Sthapit from the post and appointed Yogeshwar Krishna Parajuli to the post.

Sthapit, in his petition, has maintained that he had done a lot in his capacity as KVTDA commissioner for the development of Kathmandu Valley including road expansion for the past nine months despite non-cooperation by government bodies.

A cabinet meeting held on April 27 last year had decided to appoint Sthapit as the head of KVTDA. He was given an appointment letter by the government two days after the cabinet decision.
