SC issues show case order over writ against banda

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued a show cause order in the name of the government over a writ filed demanding strong legal arrangement against shutdown enforced in the country or in its any part.



A single bench of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi ordered the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) and Ministry of Law and Justice to appear in court with reply in writing within 15 days. [break]



Advocate Bhoj Bahadur KC, in a writ registered on Wednesday, had demanded the apex court issue directive in the name of the government to introduce such law through ordinance as per the Clause 88 of the Interim Constitution at a time when there was no parliament.



Meanwhile, the SC has issued order in the mane of defendant on a writ filed stating that it was against democratic value to nominate literary figure for prestigious National Genius Award without maintaining transparency.



A single bench of Chief Justice Regmi directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Music and Theatre Academy, Fine Art Academy and Nepal Academy to appear in court with written reply within 15 days.



Bijaya Bisfot, also known as Jeet Bahadur Deuja, of Gundu, Bhaktapur, had registered a writ claiming that it was wrong process to facilitate litterateur by making them filled up forms in a narrowed manner.
