Earlier, tourism entrepreneurs of Pokhara had announced up to 50 percent discount on various tourism products and services.Different tourism associations of Sauraha like Regional Hotel Association (RHA), Sauraha; Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) Sauraha Chapter, Park Safari, United Elephant Safari, Park Water Activities, and Tourism Entrepreneurs Committee, among others, have jointly decided to provide discount on food, accommodation and various activities in Sauraha.
"We have announced 20 percent discount on food, 50 percent on accommodation and special discount other activities in Sauraha. The offer is for both domestic and foreign tourists," Gyan Kumar Bista, president of RHA Sauraha, said.
Tourists will get 10 percent discount on group elephant safari. Similarly, tourism entrepreneurs have announced special discounts on boating and jeep safari.
Lal Bahadur Bhatta, president of REBAN Sauraha, said they have requested officials of Chitwan National Park (CNP) to extend the validity of national park to two days.
According to Ram Mani Khanal, general secretary of RHA Sauraha, local tourism entrepreneurs have joined hands with entrepreneurs of Pokhara and Lumbini to promote Silver Triangle i.e. Chitwan, Pokhara and Lumbini. They are working to take tourists visiting one destination to other two destinations.
Besides, tourism entrepreneurs are also working out various programs to extend tourists length of stay.
Sauraha, which used to get tourists even during off-season, wears a deserted look after the earthquake. All tourists have returned to their county, shortening their trips.
There are 100 hotels and lodges in Sauraha which can accommodate around 2,500 persons on a daily basis.
