KATHMANDU, March 22: The Department of Civil Registration under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development is preparing to register personal details and vital information digitally.

The digitalized service will come into effect from the coming Nepali month of Baisakh to register personal details like birth, death, marriage, migration and divorce, said information officer at the Department Khil Prasad Subedi.

One can fill up a form mentioning personal details online and send it to the websites of respective Metropolitan City, Sub Metropolis and Municipality for verification, he said.

The applicant is required to visit respective local bodies for the certificate later.

The facility will be expanded to rural municipalities after its launch in all municipalities in the first phase, said Subedi, adding that the Department has already directed local bodies to act accordingly.

"Initially we had planned to launch the service at all local bodies in the first place. But all rural municipalities lack access to internet, so we started it at municipalities in the first phase," he said.
