During his meeting with Maoist Vice chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai at the latter´s residence in Sanepa Friday, envoy DeLisi said that it would be easy for the US to remove the terrorist tag against the former rebel party once the peace process and constitution drafting process is taken to logical end.[break]
“The process is already underway,” Dr Bhattarai´s aide Biswadeep Pandey quoted DeLisi as saying.
DeLisi expressed confidence that the tag would be removed by the time the peace process is concluded and new constitution promulgated in Nepal. The envoy assured that the US does not have any prejudice against Maoists and wants to behave with Maoists like any other political party in Nepal.
During the meeting, Dr Bhattarai said Nepal´s relations with India, China and the US holds special importance and that his party wants to develop fresh relations with all these countries once the constitution drafting and peace process is concluded.
According to Pandey, Dr Bhattarai told the envoy that Maoists would start fresh negotiations with all other parties to forge national consensus to deliver peace and new constitution.
On the occasion, the envoy while offering all necessary support said the US wants to see the constitution drafting and peace process concluded at the earliest.
