The Committee´s directives has come the context of the Valley-based private schools making preparations for increasing the tuition fees from this academic session. [break]
A meeting today of the Committee held under the chair of Department´s Director General Mahashram Sharma issued a directive to this effect. It is learnt that a proposal was presented at the meeting, seeking a rise in tuition fess up to by 35 per cent from the existing fees rate.
According to the Department´s Director Teknarayan Pandey, the meeting directed the schools to not increase the tuition fees and staff salary before the new academic session.
The new academic session is beginning from April.
Similarly, President of Guardians´ Association Nepal, Suprabhat Bhandari said the meeting decided not to increase the tuition fees and salary in the mid of the academic session.
The Committee has the representation of guardians, school management committee and schools as well.
Meanwhile, the District Education Office, Kathmandu has sought clarifications from the Dhapasi-based Triyog Higher Secondary School on the reports that it has been collecting extra Rs.1,000 each from a student, citing the silver jubilee celebrations of the school.
According to information provided by District Education Officer Baikuntha Aryal to RSS, a letter has been dispatched in the name of the school, asking it to respond to the letter clarifying the report. "Such activity is against the laws", he added.
