KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Expressing his worry over the non-starting prime ministerial elections, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav renewed his request to the parties to immediately elect a new prime minister.

During a meeting with fringe parties represented in the Constituent Assembly Sunday morning, Dr. Yadav requested the parties to elect a prime minister from the parliament on the basis of political consensus and collaboration.[break]

The meeting took place at Rastrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, CPN (ML) General Secretary CP Mainali said the President asserted that the parliament should be made the venue for resolving all political problems.

Similarly, CPN Unified Chairman Chandra Dev Joshi said the President expressed his concern over the possible crisis in the nation that the delay in electing new prime minister could invite.

Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC, who also met the President, said the holdup over prime ministerial election has put the tasks of completing the peace process and constitution-writing the back burner.

Earlier yesterday, the President met the leaders of big three parties and urged them to select a new prime minister soon through consensus.
