KATHMANDU, Feb 1: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday bade farewell to the Nepalese delegation heading to India for the 12th South Asian Games slated to be held in Guwahati and Shillong from February 5 to 16.

Altogether 384 players are taking part in the 23 events of the SAG. Nepal is not taking part in the men's hockey event. The Nepalese players will be leaving for the competition on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, during the farewell program held in the capital, President Bhandari said that the players should make the nation proud through sports.
"Your success will make the whole nation proud," said President Bhandari to the players.

Similarly, Minister of Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal hoped that players will bring out the best results despite poor preparation and facilities due to various reasons.

National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said that the recent achievements of football and cricket will also be repeated in the SAG.
