Secretary at the Ministry Shreedhar Gautam, high officials and chiefs of Ministry’s bodies welcomed the newly-appointed minister. [break]
Assuming his office, Minister Gupta said he will focus on completing the peace process and writing of the new constitution though he was appointed the minister.
He further added that relevance of the present coalition government will not be justified until peace process was concluded and constitution was written.
“As a member of the army integration special committee, my special focus will be in peace process”, the newly appointed minister said.
The Information and Communication Minister said that political parties and State should not interfere in press freedom and opined that press freedom and ownership of the private sector in media should be guaranteed.
He suggested that the government media should think themselves for their autonomy and strength.
Secretary Gautam wished for the successful tenure of the newly-appointed minister adding that it was matter of happiness for the officials at the Ministry to get a well-known figure as the minister.
